Working together for victims

‘As a Commanding Officer or Duty Officer, I am the person who takes the decision to call in Salvage. My primary task is obviously to be in charge of saving human beings and animals and of putting out the fire. Particularly when there are many fire victims, it really helps when a Salvage coordinator can be on the scene quickly. Most people who have been affected want to know what to do next and just want to tell their story. The coordinator will take over the responsibilities of caring for the fire victims from me, and helps them move forward.
If possible, the Salvage coordinator and I will walk through the building to give him an impression of what we found here and which actions we have taken. Then he will have a good understanding of what happened and knows what measures should be taken in order to prevent the damage from increasing further.
In this way we work together in order to support the fire victims.
